We are making one extension to the deadline; please submit all proposals to diana.reid@louisville.edu by Feb 10th, 2016.

 

February 18, 2016 is the date for notification of acceptance.

 

Participants are invited to submit proposals that address emerging trends, report on recent research, or demonstrate new services, projects, and tools (See below for some suggested topics of interest). Time slots for all sessions are 50 minutes in length; this time includes the presentation itself and time for Q&A with the audience. Submit the following information to diana.reid@louisville.edu:

 

•             Title of presentation

•             Abstract (no longer than 250 words)

•             Names, affiliations, and contact information of all presenters

•             Primary contact for presenters

•             Equipment and other special needs

Description: Libraries constantly adapt to meet the ever-evolving needs of their users. To achieve our goals, today’s librarians must be continual innovators. We accomplish this through collaboration, remaining abreast of current technologies, and staying strategically aligned with the mission of the library. To promote this idea of partnership and innovation, we cordially invite presentations to demonstrate how participants are Building Bridges in Technical Services at their library. We welcome forward-thinking submissions in all areas related to technical services librarianship: acquisitions, collection development, cataloging, serials, electronic resources, and preservation in academic, public, and special libraries. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

 

•             Standards and systems of cataloging & classification and metadata

•             Electronic resources life cycle management, best practices and workflows

•             Policy development in a digital age

•             Collection management and assessment

•             New staffing models, organizational change

•             RDA implementation

•             Special formats cataloging

•             Patron-driven acquisitions and services

•             Vendor relations

•             Discovery and access to electronic resources

•             Interlibrary loan services

•             Emerging roles for librarians

•             Leadership, strategic planning, and budgeting

•             Linked data publishing and applications

•             Collaboration within and outside the library, partnerships

•             Managing government information

•             Digital library projects

•             Digital object curation and preservation

•             Open access and scholarly communication

•             Open source tools and platforms

 

 

All proposals will be reviewed for acceptance by the programming committee. Presenters will be notified of proposal acceptance by February 18, 2016.
