Description: As streaming video matures in academic libraries the wide variety of pricing models is just one of many issues that affect and impact further development and implementation. Discovery, access, work flow, hosting, and ADA compliance are but a few of the additional issues to be addressed in this session. deg farrelly, Media Librarian at Arizona State University will address these issues and more.
Learning outcomes: Understand the different pricing models for streaming video and the issues which are unique to streaming media licensing and distribution.
Who should attend? Academic librarians, media librarians, and those new to streaming video purchase and licensing.
Presenter: With 40 years experience as a media librarian deg farrelly provides a unique perspective on video in academic libraries. He is the author of “Streaming Video” in the book Rethinking Collection Development and Management, and co-investigator in two national surveys of academic library streaming video. He has played instrumental roles in the development of subscription, PDA, and EBA streaming video acquisition models, and serves as a consultant for several video distributors and publishers.
