Rowland Medical Library at the University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks a Head of Library Technologies and Digital Services at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.  Rowland Library serves the schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, health related professions, pharmacy and graduate studies in the health sciences.

 

The team member in this position:

 

Manages the Library Service Platform, including integrated discovery and linking, bibliographic control, and interoperable tools. Coordinates upgrades to related software as needed, and introduces new system features and related software to Faculty and Staff. Assists with developing new procedures to integrate these into existing workflows where appropriate.

 

Troubleshoots reported problems with the Library’s Service Platform, and provides primary point of contact with LSP provider.

 

Collaborates with all other library divisions regarding systems used to manage and make available electronic resources. Collaborates with the above to create and support any internal databases necessary to maximize use of library resources.

 

Assists the Head of Serials/ERM with electronic resources system maintenance and report generation.

 

Creates and manages web content for the Library’s web presence in consultation with other library divisions. Serves as primary contact for library with UMMC Division of Information Services regarding the Library’s web presence. Assists the Archivist with creation and maintenance of content for the Library’s digital repository.

 

Continuously evaluates and monitors Web use patterns, user feedback, and trends in technologies and social media.

 

Assists with Library instructional programs and information/knowledge management. Assists in the development and production of library instructional materials, especially material related to the Internet.

 

REQUIRED:

Master’s degree in Library or Information Science or equivalent from ALA-accredited program with a minimum of three years’ experience with Internet use, web design and usability; applied knowledge of standard web tools; applied knowledge of Web standards and content management solutions. Appropriate coursework may be substituted for two years’ work experience. Strong patron service focus and teamwork mindset.  Must have effective oral and written communication skills. Position will require effective organizational skills and the ability to complete projects on deadline. Salary and rank commensurate with experience.

 

PREFERRED:

Experience in the Health Sciences/Academic Medical Center environment.  Experience with OCLC’s CONTENTdm or other digital management systems, Microsoft Office suite, integrated library systems, discovery tools, and social media use in academia are highly preferred.
