Is your Library investigating how to successfully address the research data management needs of your faculty and students?  Do you want to learn more about leveraging the discipline expertise of liaison librarians, successful outreach and educational models, and the resources needed to build and sustain successful research data management services?  If yes, you should attend the Introduction to Library Research Data Management Services seminar at the 2015 Charleston Conference, hosted in partnership with ALCTS. The seminar takes place on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, from 9 – noon.

The preconference workshop will offer attendees a thoughtful, interactive, and actionable introduction to building and delivering research data management services.  Attendees will learn about the primary activities and importance of data management across the scholarly lifecycle; the policies, trends, and technologies affecting researchers and the organizations that support them, and the expertise, staffing and resources libraries must consider when building services.

Join instructors Jennifer Doty, Research Data Librarian in the Scholarly Communications Office of the Robert W. Woodruff Library at Emory University, Christopher Eaker, Data Curation Librarian at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), Libraries and Jackie Wirz, Biomedical Research Specialist at the Oregon Health & Science Library.

Registration is now open and fees are $159 for ALCTS members and $225 for non-members. For more information and to register, visit http://www.charlestonlibraryconference.com/charleston-seminars/.

ALCTS is a division of the American Library Association. An international member-driven association, ALCTS engages the library community on issues and policies that affect the acquisition, management, discovery, and preservation of library collections.

The Charleston Conference is an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants and vendors of library materials in Charleston, South Carolina, in November, to discuss issues of importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. Presidents of companies discuss and debate with library directors, acquisitions librarians, reference librarians, serials librarians, collection development librarians, and many, many others. Begun in 1980, the Charleston Conference has grown from 20 participants in 1980 to over 1,600 in 2014.
