Description:
One day you're a technical or public services librarian working in your library. The next day you’re asked to be the Systems Librarian. What now?
This webinar will share a variety of experiential insights regarding the basics of Systems Librarianship. It will focus on knowledge/skills/awareness needed immediately as well as provide guidance for development over time. Things that would have been good to know when taking on systems responsibilities will be shared.
Learning outcomes:
- provide a foundational view of systems librarianship
- offer experiential insights regarding immediate knowledge/skill/awareness requirements of the position
- reduce anxiety for new Systems Librarians
Who should attend?
New Systems Librarians, those anticipating a change, and those interested in becoming a Systems Librarian.
Presenter: Glenn Bunton is Director of Library Technology Services at the University of South Carolina. He began his career as reference librarian/search analyst at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and has held various positions along the way.
