<Please excuse cross-posting>

Speculum, the journal of the Medieval Academy of America (MAA), will join the University of Chicago Press journals program beginning with Volume 91, Issue 1, in January 2016. The quarterly journal will continue to be published in print and online. Institutional rates will be tiered to best serve the size and research needs of each organization. These rates will be available soon. Individual subscriptions are available in conjunction with membership in the MAA, and will include e-Book editions of each issue.

Speculum will be part of the 2016 Complete Chicago Package, which offers reduced pricing to institutions that subscribe to the full collection of journals published by the University of Chicago Press. Learn more about these discounts and the other offers included in the Complete Chicago Package at http://www.press.uchicago.edu/journals/ccp.html.

Editor Sarah Spence worked with the Speculum Board and an ad hoc committee to select the journal's new publisher, citing an ideological alignment between the University of Chicago Press, the MAA, and Speculum.

"We are dedicated to reaching a broad international community through excellence in medieval scholarship and best practices in publishing," Spence said. "At the same time, it is important to partner an American journal of medieval studies with a U.S. institution that makes its roots in the European tradition."

Speculum was established in 1926 as the first scholarly journal in North America devoted exclusively to the Middle Ages. It is open to contributions in all fields studying the Western Middle Ages, a period ranging from approximately 500 to 1500. European, Arabic, Byzantine, Hebrew, and Slavic studies are included. The language of publication is English.
