COLLECTIONS AND ONLINE RESOURCES COORDINATOR

Responsibilities:  Reporting to the Head of Liaison Services for Collections and Research Support, the Collections and Online Resources Coordinator will collaborate with subject liaison librarians to support collection development and assessment, primarily of electronic materials such as e-books, online journals, databases, and other e-resources, in order to ensure data-informed decision-making.  As a member of the Liaison Leadership Team, the Collections & Online Resources Coordinator will contribute to strategic planning and project management in the Liaison Services Department, a dynamic, collegial group of subject specialist and functional specialist librarians.

 

In addition to responsibilities within Liaison Services, the Collections and Online Resources Coordinator will have opportunities to work closely with the Resource Discovery Systems, Acquisitions, and Metadata & Digitization Services departments to ensure effective communication among subject librarians, technical services, and systems.  This position also holds ex officio membership on the Collection Management Committee.

 

The Collections and Online Resources Coordinator is a librarian position.  Librarians hold academic rank pursuant to the Bylaws of the Librarians of the University of Houston.  They are expected to develop a record of service and professional involvement.  The UH Libraries support the ongoing professional development of librarians and our goal is to recruit librarians committed to continuous learning.

 

Qualifications:  Required:  ALA-accredited Master’s degree; demonstrated excellent communication skills, especially across library departments; strong service orientation; significant experience with and/or demonstrated knowledge of collection development and assessment, especially of electronic materials.  Preferred:  significant experience with and/or knowledge of commercial library systems (e.g., SerialsSolutions 360, Innovative Sierra); ability to access, interpret, and use online usage data; knowledge of the electronic resources lifecycle; familiarity with trends in electronic resources management; demonstrated ability to rapidly become proficient with library systems and technologies; project management experience.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a complex, changing environment with a positive, flexible, and innovative attitude, and he or she will have proven capacity to work effectively and collegially in teams with staff at all levels.

 

Salary: $58,000 to $62,000 expected hiring range, depending on qualifications.  Comprehensive benefits package; choice of retirement programs including TIAA-CREF; tax-deferred annuity program available; release time to take a class up to 3 hours/week; no state or local income tax.
