In the University of Almeria, after the bankruptcy of Swets, we started looking for alternatives to Swets. Finally, we have started working with LM Information Delivery.

We have all non-Spanish journals with them (American journals many of them) and are quite happy with them so far.

They are a Finnish company but they have
one office in the United States, besides offices in Europe.

It would be nice to hear about your final decission.....

We have used Wolper Information Services, out of Easton PA for our serials subscriptions ever since I accepted my position in 2008. Wolper has excellent customer service.  http://www.wolper.com.  A couple of years ago, we separated our print and single-title electronic subscriptions to two vendors: Wolper for print; EBSCO for online.

I know of one other jobber: Popular Subscription Service: http://www.popularss.com/Admin/AboutUs/  I haven’t worked with them, so cannot offer thoughts on their quality compared to others.

Best of luck on your search!

Subject: [SERIALST] Serial Jobbers

Hi All,

My library currently uses EBSCO as our serials jobber. Our contract with them has ended and so have our discounts on inflationary increases for EBSCO database products.

We’re trying to decide if it’s worth sending out a bid for a new serials jobber given the few that seem to still be in existence.

For libraries that have recently gone through this process, which jobber ended up having the lowest service charge? Besides, EBSCO, WT Cox, and Harrasowitz, are there any other jobbers left?

Given how so many of our journal subscriptions are now part of large publisher packages, have any libraries decided to drop their jobber and manage subscriptions on their own?

I look forward to your thoughts on this.

Charlie
