List it in both places?

Subject: [SERIALST] Title sorting in AtoZ lists
Hello Colleagues:
I would like to know how other librarians handle the word “The” in titles sorts on their AtoZ list. One of my colleagues asked about removing the word because of the problem it creates when using the “Begins with” search on the titles
in our AtoZ list. I don’t necessarily find a problem with it except in cases where “the” has real meaning such as “The American” or “The American Dream” which are two titles in our list of 1788 titles where “The” is the first word.
There’s probably an easy answer for this but it’s Friday and there’s construction in my building! (And no air conditioning)
Thanks,
Marcella Lesher
