There is a special tool designed for cutting through the tines of the velobinding. Lacking that I would get a knife, such as a box cutter, and carefully cut through the tines. Maybe someone with more preservation background would have a better suggestion.

Hi all,

I was just approached by our Digital Archives Specialist who came across a journal bound with Velo binding, which is a practice I'm not familiar with.  He was wondering if there was a way to easily remove the binding (to scan and preserve) or if cutting would be best.  Any thoughts?
