*Apologies in advance for multiple postings.* ALCTS webinar: Transforming MARCXML Records Using XSLT Date: Tuesday, March 4, 2014 All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time. Description: Catalogers have become fluent in information technology such as web design skills, HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Stylesheets (CSS), eXensible Markup Language (XML), and programming languages. The knowledge gained from learning information technology can be used to experiment with methods of transforming one metadata schema into another using various software solutions. This webinar will focus on the use of eXtensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) for repurposing, editing, and reformatting metadata. Learning outcomes: The goal of the webinar is to empower Cataloging/Metadata Services staff members to embrace the opportunity to employ new schemas for resource description and how to reuse and repurpose existing metadata. Who should attend? Cataloging and Metadata, Digital Services, Institutional Repositories, Standards and Specifications Presenter: Violeta Ilik is the Digital Innovations Librarian at Galter Health Sciences Library, Chicago, IL. Violeta has experience with managing content creation and dissemination of print and digital resources and supporting scholars’ online identity with researchers’ management systems. Violeta also worked on developing and implementing workflows and procedures for collection-specific digital projects. She was responsible for complex metadata projects that required crosswalks between MARCXML, Dublin Core and different metadata schemes. ***************** Registration Fees: ALCTS Member $43 ; Non-member $59 ; International $43 ; Group rate (members/non-members) $99/$129
