The Eastern Michigan University Library invites applications for a tenure-track position of Collection Development Librarian; the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and start in fall 2015. This position is an 8-month academic year appointment, with an additional summer appointment possible.
Operating in a collegial team environment, the Collection Development Librarian provides leadership in collection development, evaluation and assessment, license negotiation and collection budget allocation. The Collection Development Librarian guides selection, de-selection and retention policies for library resources. He/she undertakes quantitative and qualitative analysis and assessment to improve collections in support of the university's priorities. The Collection Development Librarian helps determine the Library's copyright compliance responsibilities.Required qualifications:
- Five years minimum professional experience, with at least three years in an academic environment- At least three years experience in collection development, acquisitions, and/or electronic resource licensing and management
The Collection Development Librarian must meet departmental and university tenure and promotion standards for fulfillment of professional responsibilities, scholarship and service.
