Personally, I have used Zinio at the public library I used to work at and I loved it. It works slick on both PC/Mac and really great on my iPad. For the iPad/tablet, I’ve found that it is truly plug n’ play, downloading the app and you are ready to go once you log into the Zinio app with your account. Since my use is via a public library, academic might be a bit different – the confusing part comes in when you have to log into 2 “Zinio” accounts, first one through the state proxy (this was public library) to pick out your magazines and then in order to then read them, you have to create “another” Zinio account (I have screenshots, but SERIALST won’t let me attach them for you J). That was the only confusing issue on the public side, and I always recommended patrons signing up for both accounts via the web first, so that they were ready to go once they used the app on their tablets or at home. Viewing issues on the web and deleting issues either via the web or your tablet is easy, too. I think it’s a great service and everything is super clear.

 

I do know that EBSCO is coming out with their own “Zinio” called Flipster.
