LIBRARIAN, ACQUISITION & METADATA SERVICES – JOB ID 4103
DESCRIPTION. The Librarian, Acquisition & Metadata Services will be reporting to the Team Leader for Acquisitions and Metadata Services. The incumbent will be responsible for creation of metadata for materials in all formats, including traditional library cataloging and creation of metadata for digital objects. The position requires strong skills in the manipulation of vendor-supplied records in preparation for loading into the Innovative Interfaces, Inc. online library system. The librarian will ensure compliance with national and local standards such as MARC, RDA, AACR2r, LCSH, LCCS, OCLC, LC cataloging practices, and other appropriate cataloging and metadata standards. The incumbent may supervise student assistants in some of the work of the team.
ENVIRONMENT. The Kelvin Smith Library is a dynamic, technology-rich, and highly collaborative organization that is a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), OhioLINK, and CNI. Supported by an endowment, the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship integrates e-research and digital scholarship services. Founded in 1826, the University is an internationally recognized private research university serving 4,400 undergraduates and 5,650 graduate students with a full-time faculty of 3,055.
