LAC Group seeks an experienced
Library Cataloger to join a contract supporting USAID’s Knowledge Services Center (KSC) located in Crystal City, VA. The KSC, managed under USAID’s KM Branch in the CIO’s Office, supports the full spectrum of the Agency’s knowledge needs with a library,
self-directed learning center, the collection of Agency program, technical reports and evaluations, research staff and knowledge management services. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, fully benefited position and is an excellent opportunity for a technical
services professional. You MUST be a US Citizen in order to be considered for this opportunity.
Responsibilities:

Review and analyze the electronic or paper copy source materials to prepare standardized, descriptive, bibliographic citations for each USAID development experience document or report to be entered into the appropriate
database;

Develop and use analytical and cataloging to improve the accessibility and content of development experience provided through the Development Experience System (DEXS) databases;

Assign an average of 8 to 10 geographic and subject descriptors from the USAID Thesaurus to index each development experience report, development program, activity or audiovisual in the appropriate DEXS database;

Inventory and provide brief descriptive citations for lower priority, retrospective (prior year) USAID development experience documents and reports into the appropriate DEXS inventory databases;
Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of a M.L.S. degree or equivalent six years of work experience;

Experience with AACR2, Library of Congress rule interpretations and subject heading practice, and MARC format; RDA experience is desirable;

All cataloging functions will be performed using the Sirsi STILAS software and previous experience using this ILS is preferred;

Experience processing international economic and development assistance data, information or knowledge;

Knowledge of the operation of USAID or other foreign assistance programs is preferred;

ECS Lexicographical experience desired in the construction and maintenance of development-related thesauri, such as the USAID Thesaurus, OECD Macro thesaurus or the UNESCO Thesaurus, as well as design of development-related
taxonomies for use by thematic communities of practice and knowledge sharing communities in the international development field;

Contribute to the reviewing and updating of the metadata schema in preparation for adding multimedia content.
