Swarthmore College is hiring for a full time Serials & Electronic Resources Specialist.

(1.0 FTE, 12- month, regular, salary grade 6)
The Serials and Electronic Resources Specialist is responsible for the acquisition, receipt, cataloging and processing of annual serials and other standing orders, as well as the maintenance of bibliographic, checkin and order records for these resources.
The Serials and Electronic Resources Specialist assists the Electronic Resources Management Librarian in the management of online materials from publishers and other vendors. These responsibilities may include: acquisitions, cataloging, technical support, usage analysis, management and configuration of the link resolver knowledge base, management of proxy server data and problem resolution for these systems.


Required Skills and Abilities:

Technical Skills
Proficient with the Innovative Interfaces software.
Familiar with the administrative functions of SFX and EZProxy
Proficient with the software of bibliographic utilities such as OCLC and vendor acquisitions systems
Facility with standard Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, in order to assure efficiency and effectiveness in daily work.
 
Required Credentials
Bachelor’s degree
Familiarity with at least one foreign language.
Minimum of one year of experience in serials management for an academic institution.
Knowledge of standard library metadata schema for cataloging and classification.
Ability to work collaboratively with many colleagues both internally and externally. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills essential.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Commitment to using new technology to advance work goals and to enhance service.
Solid organizational skills, flexibility and initiative. Enthusiasm for an innovative, evolving environment.

Preferred Credentials
Familiarity with e-resources management.
Knowledge of link resolver software (e.g., SFX) and experience with an integrated library system (e.g., Innovated Interfaces).
