Serials/Electronic Resources Librarian: The job duties include: (1) Supervises
Periodicals Department; (2) provides customer service to patrons of the department; (3) provides Reference Desk services; (4) provides for access to the periodicals collection in all formats and acquiring, creating, and maintaining databases of electronic
resources; (5) participates in library instruction; (6) acquires, processes, and maintains the periodicals collection; (4) participates in collection development in other areas; (5) serves on Library/University committees; (6) participates in professional
development/scholarly activities; and (7) performs other duties as assigned. This position reports to Assistant Vice President and Director of the Library.
Qualifications:
Required: Masters of Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited program, with at least four (4) years of experience with serials and electronic resources management in an academic library. Experience supervising the work of others in an academic
library. Demonstrated knowledge of the acquisitions process for serials and electronic resources, particularly experience negotiating electronic resource and e-journal licenses. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated
flexibility with change and tolerance for complexity and ambiguity. Demonstrated strong customer service focus. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining current awareness of trends in technology, scholarly communication, copyright, intellectual property, and
standards related to serials and electronic resources. Demonstrated skill in time management: the ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely manner.
Preferred: Experience with proprietary database/resource administrative modules. Experience using an electronic resources management system. Experience with an A-to-Z journals management tool (like Ebsco's A-to-Z or
Serials Solutions). Experience with a web-scale discovery service (like Ebsco's Discovery Service or Summon). Knowledge of HTML, web design, networks, and proxy servers (like EXProxy). Experience managing and promoting an institutional repository with repository
management software like DSPACE. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, manipulate, and provide meaningful interpretation of data related to serials and electronic resources. Experience with non-traditional and/or first-generation college students.

The Library:
The Mary and Jeff Bell Library provides resources and services to assist users with their research and information needs. Over ½ million items are listed in Portal, the online catalog, and many more items are accessible through
our electronic resources. Over 180 online databases and electronic journals contain scholarly material to assist students in completing research projects or assignments. The Library provides both in-person and electronic Reference service, instruction to classes
on how to use the Library’s resources, InterLibrary Loan to obtain items the Library does not own, a Media lab for accessing audio-visual material, and over 100 computers for use in research or the completion of course assignments. Laptop computers are also
available for use within the Library. Special Collections and Archives houses a wealth of resources focusing on Corpus Christi, the Coastal Bend, and South Texas. The Atrium of the Library contains popular magazines and a selection of daily newspapers. Group
study rooms and a Very Quiet Study Area are available for student use.
