As a point of information, all three of the major subscription agents – EBSCO, Harrassowitz and Swets – should be considered international vendors, since all three have offices in various parts of the world. Those regional offices allow them easier contact with publishers in countries other than the U.S.
I don’t know about smaller agents such as WT Cox, Basch, and Wolper.

We use 2 subscription agents here, Ebsco and Harrassowitz. Both have their good points and bad. As long as you establish clear contacts and follow their protocols for claiming, things seem to work well. As far as changing agents, we changed most of our periodical titles from Swets to Harrassowitz a few years ago, expect a few problems with missing issues, subscription overlaps, etc.. in the early going. I would recommend Harrassowitz if your subscriptions are of an international scope.

Subject: [SERIALST] vendor question
hi all:
A colleague at a neighboring college asked me for information about periodicals vendors besides Ebsco of which they are a customer. Apparently an audit turned up the fact that there are other vendors that are cheaper. Personally, I think the agony of getting titles transferred from one vendor to another is not worth the lesser cost, but that's my opinion.
I told her I would ask this list for ideas of a different periodicals vendor that you love (or that you hate), I'd love to have that info.
Thanks
Lynn
