Hello all,
I have been in negotiations with JAMA for a while and told them that I was not happy about the new tier system. Especially since they said that we had to pay for two different tiers if we wanted online access for the hospital and clinics as well as for all the public health departments. So, I am dropping access to public health, since they are not using it much.
I also found out that they offer consortium deals. So, I am currently looking into this.
BTW, the print is offered at a reduced price with a site license at $295/title.

We dropped the online component. I’m not sure why everyone thinks it’s a good business decision to jack prices up like that. As handy as online access is, things like this make me not want to ditch our paper archives.

Subject: [SERIALST] JAMA price increase
Good morning,
As everyone probably knows, JAMA took away their reasonably priced print + online option. We now have to choose one or the other, and the cost for the online has increased, for us, about 600%. We called JAMA directly, mostly just to let them know that we’re unhappy with this, and they basically told us that other libraries “in our situation” are paying the increase.
I’m just wondering if other libraries really are paying, and if so, are any of you making any fuss about it?
Thanks!
Laura
