Serials/Government Documents Librarian Position Now Open at The University of Alaska Anchorage
The Consortium Library at the University of Alaska Anchorage seeks applications from dynamic, innovative librarians for its Serials/Government Documents Librarian position. The position provides leadership in managing and providing access to serials and government documents. Responsibilities include managing serials and government document acquisitions, invoices, claims, cataloging and classification of materials using LC and SuDoc classification schemes, staff training and supervision, and providing basic instruction in the use of government documents as well as, participating in staffing the library's general reference desk. This is a year-round tenure-track, faculty position with a 9 plus 3 month contract. This position reports to the Head of Technical Services.
The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA Accredited program at the time of appointment or within 6 months, familiarity with the serials trade and trends in scholarly communication, familiarity with integrated library systems and OCLC bibliographic utilities, and cataloging experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills are also required as is the ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assigned tasks.
Salary and benefits: Minimum salary of $63,000 annually. Attractive benefits including retirement program, insurance, tuition remission, vacation, and holidays.
