SERIALS (ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE) LIBRARIAN [#C11-048] 

The Elihu Burritt Library seeks a tenure-track Serials (Assistant/Associate) Librarian. As a member of the Acquisitions/Serials Department, the Serials Librarian is responsible for a variety of duties associated with an extensive multi-format serials collection. Duties include, but are not limited to: Approving and monitoring all serials renewals and payments, resolving complex serials problems, maintaining the accuracy of all online system records associated with serial titles in print, microfilm and electronic formats, performing all duties associated with the maintenance and accuracy of the library’s Electronic Journals A-Z list and the Electronic Resources Management system, acting as liaison with all serials vendors, maintaining all serials statistics and producing all serials reports as requested, coordinating serials collection reviews in order to ensure the relevance of the collection to university teaching and research, supervising binding operations and participating in collection development in one or more subject areas

Required Qualifications: ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library Science or substantially comparable experience and/or credentials, a minimum of three years full time technical services experience at the professional level, experience with online serials records and systems, experience with online e journal A-Z lists and link resolvers, demonstrated knowledge of e-journal packages, aggregators and online content publishers, demonstrated ability to initiate and adapt to change, demonstrated knowledge of current trends in serials acquisition, organization and content delivery, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an academic library serials department, knowledge of serials marc records, experience implementing and maintaining an Electronic Resources Management system (preferably III’s ERM), experience with Innovative Interfaces integrated library systems, experience with SFX A-Z electronic journals lists, knowledge of library commercial binders and library binding operations.

Experience and credentials above this level may make one eligible for consideration at the rank of Associate Librarian.
