Technical Services has an exciting opportunity for an Acquisitions
Manager, E-Resources, Serials & Government Docs.
The incumbent is responsible for managing the
E-Resources, Serials, & Government Documents (ESG)
Acquisitions unit, which performs acquisitions of continuing
resources (including monographic series received on standing
orders and government documents) in paper, microform, and
electronic formats. Working closely with the ESG Cataloging
unit, the incumbent participates in establishing ESG policies
and procedures in consultation with other unit managers and
appropriate staff. Please note that this position is located at
625 Massachusetts Avenue in the Central Square location.
Responsible for
operational-level management of the ESG Acquisitions unit:
· Hires, trains, supervises, and manages performance for
full- and part-time support staff
· Assigns tasks, plans,
directs, and monitors workflows; documents policies, procedures,
and guidelines; monitors productivity and quality standards for
the ESG unit
· Monitors budget,
maintains statistics, and prepares reports; assesses the data
against unit production goals and for trends in budget projections

As a member of the
ESG management team, participates in developing and implementing
policies, procedures, workflows and services of the Unit, in
consultation with the Head of ESG and the E-Resources Management
Librarian
· Contributes to unit
operational priorities by performing all aspects of the unit's
activities
· Works closely with
the E-Resources, Serials & Government Documents Cataloging
unit, other HCLTS units, and other departments (Financial
Services, Collection Development, Access Services/Materials
Transfer, Binding and Shelf Preparation, Government Documents,
Area Studies, HUL Office for Information Systems), contributing
information used to solve problems or implement new procedures
or technologies
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree
or equivalent education or experience required
· Requires 1-2 years
of supervisory experience
· Prior library
acquisitions experience required
· Demonstrated basic
knowledge of standard financial practices, and library metadata
standards required.
· Strong English
language written communication skills are required
· Demonstrated
experience with on-line integrated library systems and financial
systems required
· Demonstrated
experience with technology required, including working knowledge
of Microsoft Office applications; proficiency with Windows-based
software applications and file management techniques; competency
in keyboarding required
