If you have a subscription to the Chronicle of Higher Education Online, have you been able to ascertain how far back the articles go?  If I click on the "Archives" tab, it looks as if our access only goes back to April 2010, but if I conduct a search, I am able to retrieve much older articles.   The oldest article I have run across was from October 1989, but I can't be certain if that is the oldest article to which we have access.   I can't limit my search by date, except to specify if I want articles that are more than 3 years old.  That doesn't help much to pinpoint the date.  The license agreement does not specify how far back the archival access goes.  I e-mailed the sales representative to inquire, but she has not responded.  It would help to know, since we try to designate such things in our A-Z database list, and it would help with the link resolver, too.

All pertinent advice or information is greatly appreciated.
