We’ve had the same issue; it
usually takes a patron complaint to discover what the publisher has removed as
free content..

Journals
The problem that I’ve encountered
is with Highwire journals. Small society publishers put journal backfiles
on Highwire for free, then later quietly yank some or all of the free content.
This information is not transmitted to link resolver companies and we certainly
don’t hear about it at the library level. So it takes a patron stumbling
onto the lack of access before anyone knows about it.

Journals
I was wondering is anyone else is experiencing this
problem. We have set up access to content of a journal when the
publisher was giving back year access to all the years online – included with
current subscription to title. Then at some point the publisher
changes back year access to a cut off date – often starting it sometime in the
1990’s. This may occur once they judge their back access can
be sold separately.
The question – is anyone getting notification of the changes
in access. From publishers? From vendors?
