Assistant Director - University of Scranton, Weinberg Memorial Library

The University of Scranton seeks an Assistant Director to administer Library operations relating to processing and preservation of materials, access services, circulation, interlibrary loan, stack maintenance, media resources, special collection/archives and representation of these services within the Library administrative planning team.

Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS required. Additional graduate level degree required. Four years academic library supervisory experience at a departmental or divisional level required.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Familiarity with library technology including integrated library systems (Innovative Interfaces Inc. preferred), databases, Internet applications and public interfaces; excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively within an academic community; ability to develop strategic and tactical planning goals; ability to manage and meet deadlines; ability to think creatively and to demonstrate creative problem solving; and
ability to create a team working environment.

Hours: Monday—Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Expected start date is September 1, 2010.
