Are any of you out there responsible for thesis and/or
dissertation submission at your universities? We use Proquest for
everything except the binding. For the bound copy (required for our library),
we use a local bindery.
Some of our students are getting the idea that they do not
need to publish their thesis or dissertation, but that they can simply submit an
original to us (the library) for binding. This circumvents Proquest (and
fees) completely, creating a situation whereby the work is not in our Proquest “Current
Research@Hofstrta” database. I think students are required to
publish their work (in our case, through Proquest), but I am unable to find definitive
documentation stating this. What do the rest of your do? Do you
require students to publish their theses/dissertations?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Sally
