seeks experienced Collection Development Librarian on behalf of our
client, a prestigious wholesale bookseller. The Collection Development Librarian
will be responsible for the development of Opening Day Collections. Building on
customer profiles, demographics, industry principles etc., the Librarian will
create and recommend the ideal mix of products for a new library, whether
headquarters, branch or entire library system. Position located in LaVergne,

RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to:
- Consult
with Collection Development librarians to enhance and optimize existing
library collections. Analyze individual customer profiles and goals in
order to define their needs and design a plan for fulfilling them.
- Make
recommendations to expand and refine processes for more effective
Collection Development.
- Participates
in ILS sales presentations and other client services to support
outsourcing by libraries.
- Educate
customer librarians about Client tools, services and capabilities.
- Create
subject-area catalogs of titles and category expansion recommendations for
libraries, retailers, sales, and marketing to be used on ipage, in
e-newsletters, and promotions.
- Create
innovative services and tools for Client customers.
- Meet
extensively with Publishers to maintain knowledge of new and forthcoming
titles and participate in industry associations to maintain publisher and
vendor relationships.
- Write
reviews and articles for newsletters, ipage, and other customer tools to
keep customers apprised of industry trends and opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MLS
Degree from an accredited ALA institution.
- 3
years of professional collection development in public libraries.
- Proficient
using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent
oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated
ability to multi-task and meet assigned deadlines.
- In-depth
knowledge of categories and formats, including e-books and electronic
material.
