Hello all,
I’m a new librarian and have responsibility for
cataloging our print serials. One of our serial subscriptions is for a Korean
journal whose English title is The Word. The entire publication is in Korean
and I’m unable to find an ISSN anywhere in the publication. I haven’t
been able to find a record in OCLC for the purposes of copy cataloging. I do
have a student worker who reads Korean and can translate for me. My question
is, for the purposes of cataloging this journal, can I catalog it in English
even though it is in Korean? Do I need to include a transliterated Korean title
in the 245 field with the English as a parallel title? I would appreciate any
guidance or direction anyone can offer. Also, I apologize if this is not the
correct listserv for this question. Please let me know if I need to direct it
elsewhere.
Thank you,
