Today in the mail we received a “limited offer”
to acquire a site license for Scientific American from Nature Publishing Group,
which publishes SA now. It is apparently for “unlimited users”
at institutions and includes the latest content “plus an archive of four
years”, but by ordering before 3/31 we can get archives back to 1993.
We have e content back to 1995 right now in several fulltext
databases, but the terms of this “special offer” make me wonder
what will happen to that aggregated content. Remember before 2004 when
Science was current and available full-text in the aggregators?
Late last year our regular print sub for SA increased from
$29.95 to $299.
Has anyone taken them up on the site license?
