I also keep track of those problem claiming titles. I have
recommended a couple for cuts, and I am so elated when they are finally
cut. I agree, why pay for something that we cannot receive. At our institution we still find claiming and checking in
useful. It is especially important for our newspapers where patrons often ask
for certain issues, and we need to be able to tell if it is in or
when it's expected. Even though our print is used less frequently each
year, quite often we have patrons that want a particular issue. It
also helps Interlibrary loan to know what's in when they are pulling
issues. Claiming and checking in is certainly dependent on many factors
