Call for expressions of interest - Co-Editors, Serials
UKSG (www.uksg.org) is looking for two Co-Editors of Serials (one with current or recent experience in libraries, one with current or recent experience in the vendor industry) to take over this exciting publication on the expiry of the current Co-Editors' term of office.
Serials (ISSN 0953-0460) is published three times a year by UKSG and contains topical articles written by key librarians, publishers, vendors and other industry experts, along with editorial comment and updates on people in the global information community. A full backfile of the journal is available online and issues over one year old are openly accessible. In addition, the Co-Editors select one or two articles from each more recent issue to be made openly available.
The Co-Editors of Serials, Helen Henderson and Hazel Woodward, finish their term of office at the end of 2010 (Volume 23). UKSG is now seeking two successors for these honorary positions and applications are invited from those who have a wide knowledge of the scholarly communications field. You may be one of these people - or you may know of someone who you think ought to be encouraged to submit an application for one of these posts.
The term of office for Co-Editors is four years with the possibility of renewal for a further four years. The current Co-Editors will work with the Co-Editors elect for a period of some months to facilitate a smooth handover of the journal. Once in post, the new Co-Editors will work directly with the UKSG Publications Subcommittee via the office of the Publications Officer. An Editorial Board and a panel of reviewers will assist the Co-Editors.
Applications will be considered by the UKSG Publications Subcommittee and a shortlist will be presented to the Main Committee for the final decision.
If you wish to apply please contact Alison Whitehorn, UKSG Business Manager (alison@uksg.org<mailto:alison@uksg.org>) to obtain an application form and job description. Any questions you may have can be addressed to Alison.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 12th February 2010. Interviews will be in late February/ early March and the successful applicants will be expected to start work on the journal in April 2010 with the March issue of 2011 being the first for the new Co-Editors.
