I am looking for institutions that have discarded Biological Abstracts and/or Chemical Abstracts. I recall reading some e-mails where these titles were being removed from collections.

 

Each year, we have to provide the institution with the value of anything we have removed from our collection.  I have the 'old' Faxon Price Guides going back to 1973 which has gives good estimates of what we paid for these titles.  However, before that, nothing, not even in the volumes themselves.  They either did not list subscription rates in the volumes or basically said 'for US customers, contact ... for subscription rates'.

 

It looks like around 1973 or 1974 (missing price guide) Chem. Abstracts had a HUGE boost in price.

 

Question:  If anyone has discarded these titles, did you place an estimated value for these early years, and if so, would you be willing to share? 

 

Any information you can provide would be a huge help.
