Ellen,
John Sack, Director, HighWire Press, Stanford University is a
very personable fellow and I would be surprised if he did not respond to your
query if you put it through the Contact Us mechanism at http://highwire.stanford.edu/cgi/feedback.
However, if that has failed you then his direct email address is sack@stanford.edu.
I believe we have found that sometimes identical statistics
occur over multiple subscriber IDs because the same IP ranges are listed for the
“older” or duplicate accounts. I don’t believe you can actually remove an old
account but what you can do is remove the IP ranges from them so that
effectively they are not “used” and statistics will not show for those
accounts. This may or may not answer your question. Just a thought!
Good luck!
Kristi

Subject: [SERIALST] Sorting Out Hightwire Press Statistics
We are part
of a large health system. Over the last few years, we have gone to system
licenses for most of our journals (yippee!). For some of the journals on
the Highwire site, however, there are multiple subscriber IDs, probably due to
previously duplicated subscriptions. I am unsure if I should include all
of the statistics for those titles. The items at issue are American Heart
Association titles, British Medical Journal Press, Sage, American Academy of
Pediatrics, and American Academy of Neurology, and American Institute of
Ultrasound in Medicine. Some of these titles are very highly accessed,
over 1,000 downloads for individual subscriber IDs. Also, it does not
occur with all of a given publisher's titles. Anyone with any experience
with this issue? Anyone have a telephone number to a person at Highwire
who could help me?
Thanks,
Ellen
