Hello,
I recently needed to dispose of some microfiche and microfilm.
I called our local government office of environmental protection. It turns out
that our county laws allow putting micros in the garbage. I suggest you check
locally too, because it does seem to be a local consideration.
The person I spoke to was very pleased to think that someone would
ask before putting something questionable in the landfill.
Cheers,
Sherry

Subject: [SERIALST] Microfiche disposal
Hello-
We have some microfiche of which we are trying to dispose
and have a couple of questions:
1) Is microfiche too hazardous to put in the landfill?
2) Can it be recycled and, if so, does anyone have any
sources for this (other than sharing it with other libraries, which we will try
to do first)?
Thanks for any advice or wisdom!
