FW: Jill Libby hurt but recovering after road accident Vicky Thornton 26 Jun 2012 21:27 UTC

Some pretty awful news about Jill Libby I'm afraid...For those of you who
know Jill (now a W55 who just ran in the VHI's in Northern Ireland...and was
going to be going to the World Masters in top form) I am sure the Libby
family would appreciate any words of support.

Subject: Jill Libby hurt but recovering after road accident

Dear All,

Forgive the impersonal e-mail, but it seems the most practical way to tell
everyone.

Last Thursday afternoon Jill was knocked off her bike. She was
stationary waiting to turn left from a minor road into a major road. Two
cars travelling on the major road collided, and one of them veered into
Jill. She suffered multiple broken ribs, a bruised lung, multiple fractures
in her right forearm and extensive bruising. She was airlifted to James Cook
Hospital near Middlesbrough where she is currently in the General High
Dependency Unit.
Body scans and the immediate surgery for her ribs and arm seem to
confirm there are no further serious injuries. She was in considerable pain,
unable to inhale properly, which is being overcome by an epidural
anaesthetic.
It has been a long 48 hours but hopefully she should recover with time,
effort and willpower. Our children seem to be coping well enough.
I do not have e-mail addresses for everyone who might be concerned so
please use this information to let others know.

Thank you for the messages of support so far,

Steve Libby
