Hi

Is there anyone going to the NSL event in Bollington next week who can help Robert out?

If so, please contact him directly.

Cheers

Grahame

Hi grahame,

I would like to continue, but the Bollington is so far for me, do you know about someone who is going from Manchester by car with one seat free?
I know it is not your work. I just ask.

Hi all

Our 8th season of NSL got off to a great start in Chorlton last Thursday. We had 128 runners (a new PB) - including a number of the local "Chorlton Runners" (lets hope we continue to see them at "away" fixtures!). Groups of Latvians and Belgians - in town for the weekend's City Race Tour events - added an international flavour to the evening, It was also great to see lots of our new NSL T shirts on display (details of how to get yours will be given in a separate email - coming soon!).

Final (?) results are now posted on the website - please add your routes to Route Gadget. Chorlton being the first event of the season - with a high percentage of newcomers -  perhaps accounted for the more than usual number of wrong answers - remember to check your Q/A sheet carefully for the control description, and which digits you need to record. Another tip - its worth checking BOTH ends of a green box if the required codes are unclear!  Enough.

Hot on the heels of last week's shenanigans, our next event will take place next Tuesday (13th November) from The Vale Inn, 29-31 Adlington Road, Bollington, SK10 5JT.

You will notice the difference - less Latvians, more hills (lots more .....) and a map exchange if you want one. Planner Clare Griffin has provided the following information ....

What Bollington lacks in intricacy it makes up for in hills.  The east side of the map in particular is quite steep.  You may wish to take this into account when planning your route.  Although the majority of the map consists of well lit roads, Bollington does offer a selection of narrow, uneven and muddy footpaths.

To avoid competitors having to venture into the wilds of Pott Shrigley and Kerridge, Bollington will use a 2-map format.
It is not compulsory to change maps - there should be enough to do on map 1 for runners who don't cover long distances.
The map exchange is marked with a finish symbol on map 1 - please note that the exchange point is not located at the start/finish pub. If you do not want to change maps, the start symbol ( the triangle) marked on your map is your finish.
At the map exchange hand in your map and cluesheet in exchange for a new one of each.

Parking:

The pub has a car park with room for about 20 cars.  There is free public parking for approximately 30 cars at Bollington Skate Park on Adlington Road (SK10 5HG) and a small public car park adjacent to the cricket club (opposite the Skate Park).  On-street parking in Bollington can be a challenge.  Later arrivals should try the area around Adelphi Mill, off Grimshaw Lane (SK10 5JB), or on the housing estates off Grimshaw Lane after it passes under the canal.

Food and drink:

The pub intends to offer us a choice of two or three set items: Ratatouille; Chilli and possibly a stew.  One of these will be a vegetarian option.  I’ll send out more information next week regarding this.

As per usual, we need to know the approximate numbers of runners so that we can ensure that we have enough maps for all, and to give the pub an idea of likely demand for food (we'll have to sort the food details when we have more info from them)

So, to reserve your maps, please email me (grahamecrawshaw@gmail.com  OR  nsl2018@mdoc.org.uk)  indicating the number required - and whether you are likely to stay for food or not - by 6pm on Sunday 11th November.

Don't hang about - do it NOW!
