See below. Are any members available to help this worthy cause with Santa on Friday 14/12 or Monday 17/12?
Please let me know and I'll coordinate our reply to Glossop Mountain Rescue.
Thanks.

Subject: Manchester Orienteers interested in helping Glossop Mountain Rescue Team this Christmas?

I'm emailing to ask if your club members would be interested in helping out Glossop Mountain Rescue Team with an event this Christmas. I'm not sure from your website where you & your members are based, but looking at your club runs I saw they are mainly to the South-east, so I thought some of you might live not too far from us.

As any who live in the Glossop/Simmondley/Hadfield area may know, GMRT does a number of 'Santa' events each year, including driving Santa on his sleigh round the streets for the kids to meet. This is a very popular local event and also an important annual fundraiser for us. What we are looking for are volunteers to accompany us, knocking on doors, handing out sweets and gently rattling our collecting tins.

We do these 'Santa Runs' on eight evenings and I am approaching various local outdoors clubs like yours, hoping to have at least one club help us each night. So for your members what it would involve is walking round the streets with us for one evening in December, from approx 6.15pm to 9pm. The distance covered is usually around 6 miles at a brisk pace. The dates will be every Mon/Wed/Fri starting Weds 5 Dec and ending Friday 21 Dec. Any assistance would be gratefully received; ideally we are looking for anywhere between about 6 and 15 helpers.

Do you think your members would like to help us with this? Please of course let me know if you have any questions.

Regards

Nigel Hackney
