TO ALL COMPASS SPORT CUP PARTICIPANTS

What a great effort THANKS FOR SUCH A GOOD TURN OUT  - all 52 of you on the day!  Everyone of you helps to boost MDOC team morale and we were only 20 points behind a club like DVO who had good representation in all classes.  (Certainly DVO had us in the 9B class where we are lacking).  So 3rd place for MDOC in this CSC ‘heat’.

I take my hat off to the DEEside team (click on DEE on the CSC team results) – they fielded a winning team with 4 individual winners and ALL the rest scoring in the nineties - they deserve to go through, so all the best to them in the CSC Final.

I say “great effort” since obviously with MDOC staging this event and our runners helping as well that was bound to take its toll.  Also unfortunately we did have a number of our highest scorers from last year unable to attend - thanks for all apologies received.  (ie Alex Mc, Tim M, Andrew G, Kate B, Rebecca H, Nick T, Jan E, John D and Sally G....all unable to compete due to a variety of legitimate reasons).  Just think what we could do if everyone was able to attend!

There were some notable performances amongst our top scorers who excelled themselves on the day:-

Our two youngest top scorers, in the 9B class, were brilliant James McCann 1st 100 pts and Ben Dempsey 2nd 98pts (points on the smaller junior classes go down 2 pts with each place).

Our other juniors scoring 98 points each included Ali T running up on short brown, Matt F and Laura H who all did us proud - and Tom McCann ditched his bike for the day to score us 90 pts.

Alice F & Tom F both now at Uni clocked fast times and were able to grab another 98 and 97pts respectively.

We also had our heroines and heros ‘running up’ a class or two! – Carloyn H and Jane Mc and Hazel H on Womens Open scoring 94, 92 and 90 pts respectively.  Also on Mens Open Jim Trueman, Stephen F and Alan Ogden scoring 94, 89 and 88 pts respectively.  Pete L and Heather F (despite being hampered by her Achilles) were also right up there amongst the high scorers both on 94pts.

And lastly a special mention to Trevor H scoring 93pts on his 50th birthday (no that’s not gone unnoticed Trevor!)

It was great to see all MDOCers on the day pulling together as a ‘team’ should giving our late runners all the tips they could to ensure we used the paths wisely!  The area was not the best we’ve run on (or to planned on) so thanks to Kate and Dave B for their fun courses - I for one was glad we could use the paths instead of all the rather scrubby terrain and marsh.  It was also great that the sun shone at times!

Controller’s, Planners, Organiser’s comments along with Route Gadget and Win Splits etc are now all on the website: http://www.mdoc.org.uk/csc2014/index.htm#controller ....go on - put your routes on, it’s useful for the planners and fellow competitors.
