hi all

Just remembered that I promised to send out a reminder re NSL 5 in Timperley on Tuesday Jan 7th. Thanks to all those who have already been in touch, and a request to all who are still thinking of coming to let me know by 5pm on Friday 3rd January if they would like to reserve a map.

Happy New Year!

Hi all,

The next MDOC Night Street League (NSL) event will take place on Tues 7th January 2014 based at The Moorfield in Sale, a member of the Hungry Horse chain. (http://www.hungryhorse.co.uk/pub-finder/details/moorfield-sale)

The address is 131 Marsland Road, Sale, M33 3NW. (53.4175, -2.3109) SJ 79434 91233

Peter Ross (mapper, planner, organiser etc) has sent the following info and comments -

There is an extensive menu (the download is 5Mb) including burgers and chips at about £5 or £6. The Tuesday offer is a free starter or pudding with a Big Plate meal - typically fish, chips and peas at £7 or £8. The beer is good. The landlord and his assistant are very friendly, and they will clearly be able to cope with our numbers quite comfortably, so there will be no need to book food in advance.

Brooklands Metro station is only half a mile to the west along the Marsland Road, but for those coming by car there is parking behind the pub - accessed from Cromer Road.

The area being mapped covers Timperley, Brooklands and Wythenshawe Park. There are some very busy roads round the edges, but none in the competition area except maybe Brooklands Road which isn't so bad being dead straight and a single carriageway. The area is extensive enough to absorb the 18km runners. The road layouts are varied, and there are two brooks that divide the area into blocks, with scarcely any road crossings. However, there are several footbridges, usually situated in open parkland, which I am sure will be used to cut some corners and add to the interest.

As usual, we need to get a reasonable estimate of numbers for map printing etc, so please contact me by Friday 3rd January (5pm ?) to reserve yours. I'm away between Dec 23rd and Jan 2nd, but will field emails during that time. I'll try to remember to send out a reminder between Christmas and the New Year.

Best Wishes for the festive season - and don't forget you can get some training in for the NSL event by joining in the fun at MDOC's John o' Goats Charity event in Lyme Park on Saturday 4th January!
