Hi all,

The next MDOC Night Street League (NSL) event will take place on Thursday 12th December based at The Smithy Fold, (Wetherspoons), Victoria Street, Glossop, SK13 8HT. (GR SK035940).

Wetherspoons will offer their usual range of reasonably priced meals, which you can order on the night over the bar.

However, we still need to get an idea of the numbers who will require a map, so please contact me by Saturday 7th December to reserve yours.

It would be sensible to give some thought to your travel arrangements, as some routes into Glossop can become quite congested during the evening rush period (although probably no worse than our journey to Knutsford or Burnage for the last 2 events!).

One area to definitely avoid is the last junction on the M67 at Mottram. This may seem like the obvious choice of route if approaching from the North, South or West, but I would suggest the following alternatives .......

if coming from the Stockport, Hazel Grove, Bramhall etc area, it is worth coming across through Marple and along the A626 through Marple Bridge and Charlesworth;

from Macclesfield, you could consider coming through Rainow to Disley, and then picking up the Marple route or coming via New Mills and Hayfield;

from N Manchester / SELOC areas - from M60 come off through Ashton under Lyne and Stalybridge to pick up the A57 east of the M67 bottleneck;

if you must use the M67, its worth coming off in Hyde, and picking up a route to the North of the M67 (up Matley Lane) and joining the route above.

The train may be a realistic option for some people coming from the Central Manchester direction - Wetherspoons is less than 100m from the station

There should be no major issues if you are coming from the East (Sheffield) or North-East (Huddersfield).

If you aren't sure which way is best for you, or you need more info, drop me an email and I'll try to advise!

Parking

I'll assume here that you will arrive in Glossop from the West, along the A57. If not, you'll have to work it out ....!

At the traffic lights in the centre of Glossop turn RIGHT. The pub is on the left after about 50m. If you turn left immediately before the pub, you enter Howard Town Retail Park, and there is plenty of parking there. Unfortunately, there is a 2 hour limit, and I'm not sure how strict they are after 6pm (no times mentioned on the notices), so I suggest that instead of turning left, you carry straight on, and turn right after about another 50m into a Council CP which is free after 6pm.

Looking forward to a good turnout - see you there!!!

Hoping to see lots of you there!
