It's all free! Here’s the link to the MDOC site https://www.mdoc.org.uk/events/spark-orienteering-south-park-macclesfield-30-jun-2018Here’s some stuff on MapRun - the Virtual Orienteer’s first choice App.Let me (p.ross1@btinternet.com) know if you want a paper map & control descriptionsregardsPeterOn 24 Jun 2018, at 10:47, David Mawdsley <mawdsleyd@gmail.com> wrote:Peter,Thanks, got itI wasn't getting the same screen previously - don't know whyDaveOn 24 June 2018 at 10:29, Peter <peter.ross1@btinternet.com> wrote:DaveTry this….Go to the event.<Screen Shot 2018-06-24 at 10.23.24.png>Then use the drop down “Choose class/course” and choose Course1 (1). I think that you will be able to find your results here.I’ll phone you for advice over what to do next. I like your idea of a 12 minute score. It sounds good and racy.In theory all we need to provide to simplelists are the instructions on how to download the App and the Event. (They would probably also like to know what type of event it will be.) We could hand out the PIN and the paper maps on the day.RegardsPeter,I've been out to South Park this morning and used Maprun. Excellent!CommentsI took a paper map and think using the map on the phone would have been difficult. The circles were big and overlapped and on a bright sunny day it's hard to see on a phoneI think a potential difficulty with using it in anger is that the system works when you are quite a distance from the control - probably up to 10m. I can see this would be a problem - say being able to pick up the control when at the top of a crag rather than at the bottomI successfully uploaded the file and then accessed the server to see the result but wasn't able to plot the track. I don't know where the GPS file comes from?My results showed a missing control but I was pretty certain that it did registerI walked around in 35 minutes so if we were going to try it as a score event you possibly need a maximum time of something like 12 minutes - unless you want people to get all the controls. I did 2.3kmDo you think it would be a good idea to send out a simplelists message attaching all the files you sent to me and inviting members to come and have a go with it a week tomorrow? All in all a real success- well done!DaveOn Wed, 20 Jun 2018, 22:23 Peter, <peter.ross1@btinternet.com> wrote:Dave
I have set up a score event using all your potential control sites, with the start and finish locations you gave me.
Here is a guide on how to access it, and have a run.
Here are the files I used. You can drop them onto Google Earth Pro…
