The third in this year's series of Countryside Score events will use the footpaths and tracks around Higher Poynton, based at a venue used several times since this series started back in 2010, The Boars Head.
The Boars Head, 2 Shrigley Rd N, Poynton, Stockport SK12 1TE
The area is a mix of hills taking you up into Lyme Park and flatter fields around Higher Poynton itself. You'll probably get to run on the inclines that were used to transport coal from the local mines (despite it's leafy look now Poynton was once a mining village, it really was the pits......).
Registration from 6.30 and start at 7.15.
Run for 60 or 90 minutes and find as many of the checkpoints as possible using an extract from an OS Map, footpaths, lanes and quiet roads, answering simple questions at each checkpoint.
To reserve a map (advised) please mail us here on Score2018@mdoc.org.uk
More info will be posted here. Parking is at the pub and in the adjacent Nelson Pit car park (now pay and display) or local residential roads, if you use these please park considerately.
Return to the pub within your chosen run time to avoid penalties and then compare routes with other runners.
Under 16s must be accompanied.
The Boars Head have a typical pub menu, we advise you order before your run and indicate a time when you'll be back - this will help the kitchen team a lot. .
The final event in the series will be;
Weds 27th June; Pub to be confirmed in the Horwich End, Whaley Bridge area
It's guaranteed to be more interesting than watching people kick balls around in Russia!
