TO ALL MDOC COMPASS SPORT CUP PARTICIPANTS
WELL DONE
EVERYONE WE REALLY DID ALL TRY HARD AND WE WERE SO CLOSE!.....WHICH AGAIN HAS PROVED THAT ACTUALLY WITH JUST A LITTLE MORE
CONSISTANCY THROUGHOUT THE TEAM WE CAN DO THIS AND ONE YEAR SOON WE WILL.
WE HAD SUCH
A GOOD CLUB TURN OUT AND SOME GREAT PERFORMANCES
CONGRATULATIONS ESPECIALLY TO
OUR TWO WINNERS:- TOM FELLBAUM AND JOHN BRITTON
LOC were 2nd in the CSC last year which means
that they had already automatically qualified for the next round (the rule is
that the top 3 from the previous year go through). That left us battling
for second place as the results unfolded on the day against WCOC in order to
qualify.
....HOWEVER....DRAT!!!....
WE JUST MISSED OUT GETTING THROUGH BY JUST..... 7
POINTS !!....
Despite this it
was in fact a great day out in the Lakes and a really fun event on a ‘better
than expected area’ with plenty of mental and physical challenges to be had on
all courses - (correct use of ‘traffic
lighting’ and route choice according to your own strengths etc all being
important on the day).....I will write on my map “as usual for the Lakes:
more rock on the ground than shown on the map, more streams following wet
weather than shown on the map and vegetation always tricky to map accurately in
a complex area such as this with only veg boundaries with black dots reasonably
accurately mapped”.
RESULTS ARE UP LINK:- http://www.lakeland-orienteering.org.uk/results-all/item/11-2013/156-claife-heights-csc-round-1
I shall have a closer look at those later to see who
ended up being our top 25 scorers and let you know for interest.

Note from the organiser Derek Allison:-
Do you want to send some comments about the event? Either
about aspects of the event that were particularly good, or things you feel
could have been better.
At Claife Heights we are using the NWOA Assessor Scheme.
The idea is that you can submit your comments to an "Assessor" who
will compile and moderate the comments.
The Assessor will write a short report which will then be
published. The long term aim of the scheme is to help improve event quality by
highlighting what aspects worked well and what should be done better in future.
The Assessors this time are Dan and Karen Parker and any
comments should be sent to them at danandkaren@btinternet.com by
Wednesday 20th February at the latest.
The report will be published on the LOC website about a
week later.
