The 2017 Coaching Conference will be held over the weekend of 14th & 15th January 2017 in Crewe. This is open to any orienteering coaches and orienteers who are interested in coaching. There will be a mix of sessions: in and outdoors, covering a variety of topics. Further details and booking information can be found here. Below is a summary:

Saturday will feature the keynote speaker Mark Nixon: Systematic Orienteering - A top down approach to navigation. There will be other sessions lead by Peter Roberts and Jackie Newton.

On Sunday morning there will be a ‘Coaching Safety Workshop’. This is of special interest for coaches who would like to upgrade their coaching licence to include working in remote and exposed terrain (i.e. those coaches who have UKCCL2 or the older British Orienteering Level 3/Club Coach qualifications).

Running in parallel with the above workshop, there will be an alternative workshop on ‘Exploring ways to use a small area to provide enjoyable activities for newcomers to the sport’.

Tutors of the Teaching Orienteering courses and tutors, assessors and quality assurers (verifiers) of the UKCC qualifications are asked to attend the update sessions on changes to the courses on the Sunday afternoon.

Sent on behalf of Lynne Walker, SOA Coaching Co-ordinator.
