Hi everyone

Thanks to those who have already offered to help at next Thursday evening’s event.  I could do with a couple more helpers please:

- someone to help at the Start with the initial rush of people, after that you would be able to go for a run
- someone to set up and look after the Finish; you would only need to be there for an hour or so when most of the younger runners will be finishing their run; you could then go for a run and someone else will take down the Finish when courses close.

Please let me know if you can help in either job.

Subject: Teggs Nose Summer Evening event - Thursday 28 April

Hi everyone

The Teggs Nose summer(?) evening event has rolled around again – it’s on Thursday 28 April.  There will be the usual range of courses for novices and experienced orienteers.  Registration will be in the Visitor Centre and opens at 17.30, with start times from 18.00 – 19.00.

This year the Visitor Centre at least will be nice and warm as the new cafe is staying open for us, serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and cake.  For Registration and Download we’ll be using a large room at one end of the centre, rather than the space we normally occupy.  Entrance is from the usual doors at the back of the building.

As Organiser I’m looking for helpers in the following jobs:  registration, helping beginners, start, finish, computing, map printing, first aid and control collection;  courses close at 20.15 and dusk is at 20.31 so the more people available for collecting, the better.  Please let me know if you can help, when you are available, which job you prefer and whether you would like a run.

N.B.  Part of the normal road route to Teggs Nose Country Park will be closed for a period which includes our event; Buxton Old Road will be closed between the junctions with Buxton Road and Blakelow Road.  I’m not sure yet whether diversion signs will be in place to the park but, if not, the simplest route from Macclesfield town is to continue up Buxton Road, past the Buxton Old Road turning, and take the 2nd right – by the Walker Barn – into the other end of Buxton Old Road; this is a slightly awkward, oblique turn.
