Dear MDOC

Steve has asked me to update you on his progress. He had a 11 hour operation on Tuesday at Manchester Royal Infirmary to remove a tumour in his oesophagus.  He is in the High Dependency Unit and will stay there for another few days before moving to a ward. This will be followed by a further 3 cycles of chemotherapy. He is ok although very weak from the surgery and uncomfortable mainly due to all the tubes, drains and monitoring equipment.

He wants to apologise now that he won't be fit enough to run in one of the relay teams at the JK this year!!
