Hello again

So far I’ve only received 4 requests to attend the safety workshop which I’m likely to hold early in 2016:
Paul Watson, Clare Griffin, Alan Ogden, and Richard Evans.
I suspect there should be rather more.

In my email below I gave a deadline of tonight for responses.
I propose to extend the deadline until Monday 7 December, in case people would like to think about it over the weekend.
I will then move towards fixing a date and venue.

Thanks, Ian

Dear All,

It’s nearly 4 years since the club held a Safety Workshop, and I have been asked to put on another one.

At present, Rules Appendix C ‘Event Officials’ requires anyone who Organises a Level A, B or C to have received safety training (i.e. attended a Safety Workshop), but I have just rung BOF office and I now understand that from 2017 PLANNERS AND ORGANISERS of ALL events (Level A, B, C and D) must have received this training.

I’ve been advised by BOF that the content of the Workshop has not changed since 2011, except that Appendix E on Event Safety has been updated this year.

Nevertheless, I need to remind myself of what I need to do as Tutor, and so I propose to hold another Workshop early in 2016 rather than before Christmas.

I will aim to make the Workshop straightforward, thorough without being turgid, and if I think I can shorten any aspect of what I did before then I will do so.
Nevertheless, the Workshop is still likely to approach 3 hours in duration.

Although not required by BOF, I will provide a summary booklet to all those attending the Workshop, which I hope will act as a memory jog when you need to use the contents of the Workshop.

When will the Workshop take place?
Weekends are precious, Wednesday means Club Run or SROC NSL, so I propose to hold the Workshop on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evening (provided it doesn’t clash with an MDOC NSL event).

I’ll investigate a venue once I have an idea of numbers.

If you would like to attend the Workshop (or feel you really should attend), please drop me an email by Friday 4 December saying which evening(s) would suit you best.

Thanks, Ian
