[Apologies for the false start - the recent message without an explanation.]

Dear All

Yesterday we received an email from Mike Hamilton at BO which clarified the position with regard to the need for back-up lighting and a means of summoning assistance when participating in a Night Street event.

It is now up to the Organiser to decide whether a back-up light and a whistle are recommended or required, taking into account the risks prevailing for the event in question.

I attach an updated version of the Safety Notice (now version 7) which I hope adequately summarises the position under “General Advice, points 3 and 4”.

With regard to Tuesday’s NSL event in Bramhall/Cheadle Hulme, the Organiser (Trevor Roberts) has advised:
There is an option to run across unlit fields to link up two urban areas.
If competitors expect to cross this area, a back-up torch and mobile phone are recommended

I apologise for previously issuing version 6A of the Safety Notice, which was based on an understanding of the Insurers’ requirements which was no longer current.
