Trevor

Attached are my answers to your questionnaire. I am pleased that we intend to use the full name of MANCHESTER on the shirts rather than the cryptic MDOC. I believe we should take on a new design and colour scheme from our existing kit. The existing design was a stock design from Trimtex and has been chosen by several organisations both in the UK and abroad. I frequently spot an AIRE or SEOA shirt and mistake it for our own club.

I acquired a rather attractive designed shirt at the Istanbul 5 day event in 2010 which was supplied with my name and class printed on the front. I have attached two photos of this (front and back). I think that a similar design would look good for MDOC but perhaps not so full on with the red colour. However, red is included in the club badge and I think it should form some part of the design.

Question

Answer

Do you currently own a club running top?

Yes – One short sleeve and one long sleeve

If yes when did you purchase it?

Ages ago

Would you be interested in purchasing a new club running top?

Yes

Would you be interested in purchasing a club ‘wind top’?

Yes if the price is right

Do you prefer long sleeves or short?

I like to have both and wear different ones according to the weather

Which neck style do you prefer (V, round etc.)?

Prefer a short opening zip at the front. I don’t like a tight neck

Do you prefer a solid material or mesh?

Solid

Do you think we should display a club logo on the tops?

I think our club logo is rather dull. I don’t have an opinion on putting the logo on the top.

Should we stick with the existing MDOC colours (white/green/blue) or make use of different colours?

Please indicate from the pantones below which you would prefer

There is also red in the club logo and I think we should make more use of that.

My choices would be White with some Warm Red and Black

What colour should the word Manchester be? (red/blue! or other)

I am pleased that we intend to use the word Manchester rather than MDOC. The colour needs to allow the name to stand out against the background.

What do we want as a design?

Traditional panel-like solid colours, stylised forest scene mixed with Manchester cityscape silhouette?

Any other ideas?

I have a very attractive O Top from the Istanbul 5 day event in 2010. It is predominately red and is personalized with my name in white. It cost me 35 Euros. Two photos are attached.

I have searched for an image of the Manchester skyline but Manchester lacks a truly iconic building or skyline. The attached image is a possibility.

Subject: [MDOC] New Club Kit

Hi All - those of you quick off the mark will already have spotted the link on the club web site asking for your thoughts on new club kit. The committee have been discussing this for a while now and want to move swiftly to a conclusion based on the views of the membership. As the document on the web site describes we believe we have found a supplier who can provide such kit and also wind tops (like those that SYO/OD members wear).

It would be really great if you could all spend a little time completing the questions in the document and adding any additional comments you might have. For those of you with an artistic bent you can even help us come up with a design if you cut/paste the images into a drawing tool like Paint or similar, hand drawing/colouring would also be fine.

So that we can move forwards we ask that your responses are sent back before the end of the month so that they can be collated and discussed at the next committee meeting. Please reply direct to this email.

I've attached a couple of noddy ideas to stimulate your thoughts. The idea with the forest is that it would somehow be printed across the entire back section, I just can't stretch the image in that way with Paint.

The links to the document are on the web site but I've included them here as well.

Thanks in anticipation for your time and replies

Trevor (on behalf of The Committee)
