I am forwarding this to all the club as I guess there may be quite a few of us thinking of going to WMOC in Sweden in 2015.
Should we, perhaps, get together to arrange something?
Sue

Subject: WMOC 2015 Gothenburg - Logistics Suggestion

Feel free to pass this on.

I am not planning on sorting a 'tour' but I would like to share my plans for next year which are already sorted. I think it is very easy to sort yourselves out and if we all stay in the same place, you would be seeing a lot of Brits and can arrange meals, etc on an adhoc basis. (Plus with my Swedish I can help out if needs be but normally English is spoken everywhere.)

O-ringen in Boras is the week before WMOC in Gothenbeurg. www.oringen.se Ends Friday 24th July. Gothenburg is 40 mins up the road. I am not sure how many will do this!? 3 weeks in a row, David May is highly doubtful!

On Sat is Sprint Model, Sunday Sprint Qual, etc - usual programme.
The bulletin 1 is here - http://media.wmoc2015sweden.se/2014/03/Bulletin-11.pdf
In this Bulletin is a map showing all the race areas. In the middle at the map at the bottom is an athletics track just to the left of some small words - Aby. Just off the map there is the Hotel Ibis Styles at Molndal. This hotel (includes breakfast and Wifi) I have booked for 7 nights (my parents for 8). Free car parking.
Book via www.accorhotels.com  (Worth getting their points card too personally) It is £50 a night just looking now for a double or twin, or £43 for a single.
NOTE - there are 3 Ibis STYLES in Gothenburg and you want the MOLNDAL one which is the cheapest (at the mo) and best for WMOC 2015. (The Novotel however looks like it could be next to the Sprint Q&F in the east of all the race areas.
We will either have a car from the UK or hire a car as SJ will drive our Swedish car back on the first Sunday. However, it may well be that you can get around by public transport as all the areas are quite close by. Some you could walk to and you could hire a bike for the week...

So after the WMOC Long Final on the Saturday and prize-giving on (Going on while WOC Sprint Relay is happening), I will get the train to Malmo - 3hrs / £20. Stay at this hotel (£40 a night single with breakfast 500m from the station) as it is cheaper than in Copenhagen.  http://www.scandichotels.com/Hotels/Sweden/Malmo/Scandic-St-Jorgen/#.VA4sehYXNPY
In the morning I will take the train 20 mins / £10 to Copenhagen airport and fly with SAS CPH - Aberdeen  0825 - 0915. £100 single.
www.flysas.com
Then 2 hours drive to Day 1 of 6 days. Run off a late start and then watch WOC Sprint Final later in the afternoon.
This SAS flight is quite a small plane (2 plus 2) configuration with 16 in Business and maybe 48 economy.
From Aberdeen I'll get a hire car or picked up.
I am assuming the S6Ds can accommodate late starts for WMOC people like us arriving by midday!?

I have spent a huge amount of time looking for other options and potentially better options. Not much happens on Saturday afternoon. But I think this is a pretty good solution.

Of course you dont have to do any of what I suggest - there is plenty of another accom to choose from for WMOC - it just might be nice getting the Brits staying together however. If you dont mind missing Day 1 of the S6Ds then you have loads of options. If you dont mind driving through the night from London Saturday Night then you can get to London Sat eve fine from Gothenburg with BA for ex on their 2130 departure.
It may be that schedules might change and something pops up, and easyjet flights are not bookable yet for next August. but at the moment the LGW to INV flights are not at good times. I think I have been thorough.

If anyone find an alternative flight plan that enables you to do the Long WMOC final and ideally, stay for the prize-giving and still get to Day 1 S6D starts, then do share them with everyone!

Hope this information helps. Do join us in any of the above if you like. I have flights and hotels booked - just not the train tickets.
I can keep people informed about train tickets for example - like the UK, the time to buy is 90 days before travel. Just let me know and I can keep a list.

Any questions just ask. Just trying to be helpful. (You book everything yourself.)

Best wishes,
Nick Barrable
